Logos People - International Addresses

Logos provides a table of States/Provinces for the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia) plus Country names for most other countries). When you enter a State/Province for one of these four countries (on the Family/Mailing tab or Create New Family window), the Country field is automatically filled in. At the same time, the Zip/Postal Code field is formatted to fit that country’s usage.

 

Entering an Address for Other Countries

 

If the Country uses State/Province entries when addressing mail—

1. In the State/Province field, type the abbreviation used in that country to indicate that state. Or type the name of the state, up to 20 characters. Then press the Tab key.

2. An alert box tells you if that text has not previously been entered into the State/Provinces list. You are asked if you want to add it to the list. If so, select Yes.

3. The Add State window opens in which to type the State/Province and Country. The State/Province name entered here is only used in the State/ Province list to identify the entries. It does not print on any labels or reports. Type the full name of the country in the Country field, and then select OK.

 

 

4. If the Postal field does not allow entry of some characters used by that country (e.g., letters), go to Preferences (File menu) and select the Field Text tab. Select the Combo Boxes button, scroll down to the State item, and then click Select to open the State list. Select the List tab and locate the state/province desired, and select the Data Entry tab. If the Code field is active, add the postal code after the state abbreviation there. Then select the Save icon  on the tool bar. Then leave the Postal field blank in any addresses for that country.

 

If the Country uses Postal Codes but not State/Province entries when addressing mail—

 

1. In the State/Province field, type the postal code for the address you are entering. Then press Tab.

2. An alert box tells you if that text has not previously been entered into the State/Provinces list. You are asked if you want to add it to the list. If so, select Yes.

3. The Add State window opens in which to type the State/Province and the Country. In the State/ Province field, type a word or name to clarify this entry in the State/Provinces list. This text does not print on any labels or reports. Type the full name of the country in the Country field, and select OK.

4. Leave the Postal field blank in the record being added or edited.

 

If the country does not use (or you do not know) either State or Postal Code entries 

 

1. In the State/Province field, select from the list or type the name of the country. Then press Tab.
