PROBLEM: The user name that displays as your CMS User Name is not correct.
SOLUTION: CMS pulls the computer's network user name when displaying the user name in the CMS People Products and Fund Accounting Products.
It is recommended that you contact your network/hardware professional to change the network user name, as there may be passwords and permissions dependent on the network user name. By changing the network user name, you may not have the same rights under the new network user name.
If you have a single, stand alone, Windows XP with an incorrect user name that you would like to change, you can follow these steps.
Before beginning, create a Restore Point. This will allow you to get back to your system settings before making any changes, should you run into problems.
Click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore.
Click the dot at Create a Restore Point | click Next.
Enter a Restore Point Description, such as "Before Changing User Name". Click Create.
Once the restore point is complete, click Close. You now have an option of restoring your computer's settings back to this moment in time.
Click Start | Control Panel | System. Click the Advanced Tab. Click the Settings button at User Profiles.
Highlight the old User Profile and click the Copy To: button.
NOTE: If the Copy To option is grayed out, you may be logged in as the user you are attempting to copy. Log back into the system as an alternate administrator user. You may need to create a new User Account by clicking the User Accounts link on this screen.
Type in the name of the new user. Click OK.
Once complete, you can choose to Delete the old user's profile.
Next, click Start | Log Off and log in as the new user.
Now the user name in CMS should now display as the correct new user's name.
