CMS People - Is There Any Way Print Labels for People with Nothing in Common?

PROBLEM:  I need to print labels for a random group of people in the system.  How do I do that!?!?

SOLUTION:  You can set up a code for Miscellaneous Labels in the system that you can use over and over again!  There are just a couple steps involved:

Setup Codes

From CMS Membership, click Options | Define Codes | Activities.  Click the Add button on the right and create an activity called MISC LABELS.  Click OK | Close when complete.

Speed Update

Next, you'll want to assign the new MISC code to your new group of people who have nothing in common.  Click People | Speed Update | Activities.

Type MISC in the Activity Code field and click the Select Names button.

This will bring you up to the Select Names screen displaying everyone in the database.  Just start to type the last name of one of those people and it will Jump down to that person's name.  Use your arrow keys to find the correct person and press the Enter key on the keyboard to place a checkmark next to that person's name.

If your fingers happen to slip, and you have a type-o, just press the Escape key on your keyboard twice to clear it out, allowing you to start typing that persons' name again.

Once everyone is checked, click OK | Update | Yes.

Now everyone has that common code!  Now let's set up your labels.

Setup Labels

From CMS Membership, click Labels/Letter-Mailer | click the New Report button on the right and give it the name MISC LABELS (you can re-use this over and over again, so don't be too specific on the name) and click OK.

From the Label Selection Screen, click the Person Additional Selections button in the lower left corner.

Click the Activities button in the upper left corner and choose only the MISC LABELS activity.

Click OK | OK.

Set your labels to Person labels (not House labels) and click Print.

This will give you one label for each person you've previously coded!

Now, the next time you want to create a set of Misc labels, you've already got the code and label report set up.

So here's all you'll need to do next time...

Remove Code

First thing you'll want to do is make sure the MISC labels are cleared out and ready for a new set of people!

From CMS Membership, click Process | Remove Activities | Make sure you have a backup and click Continue.

Click the Activities button and scroll down and find the MISC code and click the Add button in the middle.  Click OK.

Click the Activity Status button and click the Add All button in the middle.  Click OK.

Click the Remove button.  This will remove the activity code MISC from anyone who previously had the code, but the code itself will still be available for you to use.

Finally, print your labels.  Click Labels/Letter Mailer and choose the Misc Labels report you've already created and click Select.  Click Print.

Voila!!
