CMS Contributions - How Can I Send a File to Faith Direct?

PROBLEM: You've been asked to send a file to Faith Direct for a mass mailing, but you don't know how to prepare and send the file.

SOLUTION: You can easily use CMS to email a listing of names, addresses and envelope numbers to Faith Direct!

From CMS Contribution System, click Process | Merge Export File | New Report | give it a name, such as Disk for Faith Direct and click OK.

From the Merge File Selection Screen, leave the File Type at Contributor.

Click the Member Status and Participation Status buttons on the left side of the Directory Selections Screen and make selections for who you want to include to Faith Direct. For example, you may not want to include those members who have passed away or moved away, so remove the codes for Deceased and Transferred/Moved. Click OK.

Click the checkbox at Field Names in First Record in the lower left corner of the screen. 

Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express Users:

Click the View File button located on the right side of the screen to print the report to screen. Once the report is on screen, click the Export button at the top of the screen (envelope with red arrow).

Click the down arrow at Format and choose Comma Separated Values (CSV).

Click the down arrow at Destination and choose Microsoft Mail (MAPI).

 

Click OK.

This will bring up a Send Mail screen.

 

Type in the email address for Faith Direct in the TO: field and remember to include your church name, address and account information in the subject and/or message field. Click Send.

You may receive a notice from Microsoft notifying you that another application is attempting to send mail on your behalf and do you want to allow access. Answer Yes to allow CMS to send this email on your behalf.

 

All other email applications:

The default location of the File Destination is the floppy disk drive A:.  If you computer does not have a floppy disk drive, or you would like to change the file location of the data, click the Browse button and enter the correct file name and location.

Once complete, exit CMS and open your email application.

Create a new mail message to your envelope company. Click the Attachment button.

Click the down arrow at Look In and choose the location of the saved file. Choose the CMSENV.TXT file and click Attach.

Don't forget to include your Church Name, Address and Account information in the message box of the email.

Click Send.
