How to use ParishSOFT on a Second Computer

There are usually two ways to share ParishSOFT.

  • The first is by setting up a shared network of computers.
  • The second is to share via a central server

If you do not have a server, one of your computers will have the database on it and be sharing with the other computers. If you do have a server, the database should be on the server to be shared with all computers.

*IMPORTANT* The computer or server that is sharing the database must be turned on when attempting to access ParishSOFT from another computer.

 1. In order to use ParishSOFT on another computer at your Parish, you'll need to first install ParishSOFT on that computer

2. Make sure your database is in a shared location on the main computer (the one that has ParishSOFT already installed). To do that you will want to put it on a shared drive or within the Public Folder on your C: drive. Here is the pathway for that public folder where you'll want to store the database:

C:\Users\Public\ParishSOFTData

3. Once your database is placed in that location,  set the database pathway on the computer link to the main computer.

*IMPORTANT* The computer or server that is sharing the database must be turned on when attempting to access ParishSOFT from another computer.
