Why does nothing happen when I click the Print Selected button?
On the Print Checks window of the check printing process (the 3rd step) when you click Print Selected, nothing happens at all, it just comes back to this same window.
What may prevent checks from printing
Sometimes the issue is simply that the check PDF is not popping up; instructions to resolve this issue may be found here.
A special character in the check number will cause this issue.
If you are getting the error, There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be opened because it has no pages. it indicates that no checks were marked to print. To print a check there needs to be a checkmark in the box next to the item(s) you want to print.
You must mark the box to the left of the check for the check to be selected.
What to look for
You will need to find the check with the invalid character in the check number (usually the last check you printed).
You will look for a . or a # or other similar characters. Some characters are valid such as - or \ but to be safe, we recommend you don't use any special characters in your check numbers. Stick with numbers and alpha characters only.
Where to look
The invalid character will likely be on your last check run and is probably in the number for the last check you printed.
The easiest way to find the check with the special character is in the Change Check Number Process.
- Click on Process → Change Check Number.
- Select the bank account you are trying to print from.
- Review the check numbers.
If you don't have access to Change Check Numbers, you may either print a Check Register or use Find Check from the Checks main screen.
How to fix it
Once you find the problem, change the number under the Change Check Number Process. Or, call your diocese to remove the special character if you don't have access to this function.
