This article explains how to assign access rights and permissions to a staff member in ParishSOFT Family Suite. Assigning permissions ensures staff can access the modules and features they need while protecting sensitive data.

Before You Begin
- You must have Organization Administrator privileges to assign permissions.
- If you do not have permission to manage access rights:
- Contact your organization’s current administrator, or
- Contact ParishSOFT Support to identify who has administrator access.
Where to Assign Permissions
- Navigate to Administration → Manage Staff.
- Select the staff member’s name to open their record.
- The record opens to the Access Rights tab.
- Select Edit Details.
Select Organization and Position
- Use the dropdown in the upper‑right corner to:
- Select the organization, and
- Select the position for which permissions will be assigned
Permissions are assigned per organization and position.
Required Access Settings
To allow a staff member to access ParishSOFT Family Suite:
- Grant Login Privileges must be checked
- ParishSOFT Access must be checked
Without both options selected, the user cannot access any modules.
Assign Module Access
For each ParishSOFT module:
- Select View to allow access to the module
- Select additional permission checkboxes to allow specific actions within the module
To allow access to Pastoral Notes:
- Select Edit/View Pastoral Notes
Assign Organization Administrator Access (Optional)
If the staff member should have full administrative control:
- Select the Organization Admin checkbox.
- Select Save & Close.
When Organization Admin is selected:
- All modules are enabled
- All permissions within each module are granted
- The Manage module appears for the user
Save Your Changes
- Select Save & Close to apply the permissions
Changes take effect immediately for the selected organization and position.
