How to use the Default Donor Lookup ID field when entering contributions either directly or through a batch
When you are posting contributions on the Contributions page or on the Postings page in a batch, you may set the default Donor Lookup ID field right on the entry page. Once it has been set after you first access the page, you will not have to change it again until the next time you come to the page.
This is true for all your default entry options.
When processing a batch, you may set your default options to one of these as your default setting:
When using the Contribution page, (adding postings outside of a batch), you will be able to choose from the same options shown above.

There are two other places you may set this default up. The first is on the Settings page under Batch Management. Once this is set, it will become the default for all new batches until it is changed in the batch. Once changed in the specific batch, the changed lookup becomes the new default for that batch.
The second is on the Batch Details page (the first page you come to when you click the add batch button), where you may change the default for the particular batch you are in. This option has an additional default value of envelope number not currently present on the Batch Management page.
