How to correct the error, "The entered Sub-Account number exceeds the maximum number of digits (0)"
When adding a new account, one field that displays in the entry screen and allows you to enter a number, even when it has not yet be activated (ie. is still set to zero), is the sub-account field. However, if you do so, you will get an error. Or, if you enter a sub-account code that has more digits than allowed per your set up, you will get a similar error.
- Sub-account length must be set to a number larger than zero (0).
- We recommend using two (2) digits for the length of the sub-account field.
To learn how to update the sub-account digits, please see the article, How to add, delete, and edit account code levels (dimension codes, sub-accounts, account segments).
If the error indicates a number greater than zero, you are trying to enter a sub-account that is longer than the allowed length for a sub-account. You will either need to use the number of sub-account digits as designed or change the number of sub-account digits allowed. Before changing this, you may want to talk to an administrator about the design of your sub-account. Then, to learn where to go to change the sub-account digits, please see the article, How to add, delete, and edit account code levels (dimension codes, sub-accounts, account segments).
