How to submit a W2 to the state of California

In 2019, the state of California does not accept W2s electronically. They require a DE9 form. This website may give you additional information on how to file with the state of California. www.edd.ca.gov

Electronic Reporting and Payment Requirement: As of January 1, 2018, employers must electronically submit employment tax returns, wage reports, and payroll tax deposits to the EDD. For more information on the e-file and e-pay mandate and related noncompliance penalties, visit www.edd.ca.gov/EfileMandate
