PSA L&P - Bank Reconciliation: The software is not accepting the amount I am entering in the Ending Balance field

The software is not accepting the amount I am entering in the Ending Balance field

The software will only allow numbers and the decimal point in amount fields. When a dollar sign ($) is used, the entry is not recognized and displays NaN in the field. When a comma (,) is used, the software displays it as a decimal point and automatically assigns .00  for cents after it.

As shown here, entering $5,000.00 will give you a NaN error. The NaN error is also displayed if the field requires an amount but the field was left blank.  (NaN stands for Not a Number)

This incorrect entry will result in an error when you try to submit the Bank Statement Information so you are alerted to the problem right away.

However, when you enter a comma in the amount, an incorrect amount will display and there will be no error upon submission.

When you try to reconcile, you will not be in balance. If you try to update the Ending Amount from within the Bank Reconciliation using commas, you will get an error.

You will get a warning if the field requires an amount to be entered with decimal places and you omit the decimal. To correct the error below, enter 0.00 instead of 0.
