How to set up a batch and add postings after the 5.21.21 offering update (DMO2.80)
ParishSOFT heard your frustration and has made some significant changes to batch posting options and entry. Once the 2.80 release has been published on May 20, 2021, many will be happy to learn the enter key is back. There are also additional options for the default lookup ID.
New Options for the Default Donor Lookup ID
- The options: Choose from one of these options to search for the donor when posting contributions.
- How it will look: An overview of how the entry screen will look when selecting a default donor lookup ID
- Where it is set: There are three places this option may be selected with global to local effects.
The default lookup ID options
You may now choose from the following lookup ID options:
- Post by Family Name
- Post by Member Name
- Post by Envelope Number
- Post by Envelope Number & Family Name
- Post by Envelope Number & Member Name
Go to: How it will look
How selecting each option will look on the Posting page
When both the envelope number and one of the names fields are selected as the default entry, you may expect your screen to look like this. (Of course, if Display Memo and/or Display Check Number is checked, you will see those two entry fields also.) This image shows the entry screen if the Envelope Number & Family Name option has been selected.
*Member Name will take the place of Family Name on the entry screen if that option is selected in combination with the Envelope Number.
If only the Family Name or the Member Name is selected as the default family lookup, the posting screen will have either of those two fields as shown here.
If you choose to post by envelope number alone, the posting page will look similar to the one shown in this image.

Where the default lookup ID is set
The default lookup ID may be set through each of the following options:
- The Settings page: The default lookup ID selected on this page will become the default lookup ID for each batch. Choose the option that the majority of your batches will require.
- The Batch Details page: When you create each new batch, you may leave the default lookup ID that was inherited from the Settings page or you may change it for this batch. If you find you are changing the setting on the Batch Details page more often than not, you may want to change it on the Settings page.
- The Batch Postings page, Defaults panel: If you have a batch where you have some entries by envelope number and some by family name, if you sort the envelopes accordingly, you could first process the envelope number group, then change the setting in the defaults panel to Family Last Name, then process the family name group.
The Settings page: Choose one of the five options from the default lookup dropdown. The default lookup ID selected on this page will become the default lookup ID for each batch. Choose the option that the majority of your batches will require.

Learn about using the Enter key
The enter key is back
You may now use the 10 key entry pad when posting contributions.
- You also may tab to the next field. Whatever you are most comfortable with.
- You will note that after the first entry, and each subsequent entry, the Amount field will display the amount of the previous posting. As you Tab or Enter into the Amount field, the amount will be highlighted (selected). If the amount on the current entry is different than it was on the last, simply begin typing in the new amount. You do not have to delete or backspace since the amount is already selected.
- If you click into the field with your mouse, you will have to select the entry (hold the mouse down and select the amount that is in the field) and then again, simply type in the new amount.
