You may find it easier to view and work with records in a grid if they are sorted the way you want. This topic shows you how to sort records in a grid based on the information in a column.
Sorting Basics
Many of the grids in ParishSOFT Family Directory contain sortable column headers. Sortable column headers let you sort records in a grid however you want. Sometimes, you want to sort by last name, envelope number, or Member DUID. Click the desired column header to sort the grid by the column's data type.
If the column contains text, the information is sorted in alphabetical order. If the column contains numbers, the information is sorted numerically. You can sort the content in one of two ways:
Descending order
- Alphabetically from Z to A
- Numerically from 9 to 0 (highest to lowest) or least recent to most recent.
Ascending order
- Alphabetically from A to Z
- Numerically from 0 to 9 (lowest to highest) or from most recent to least recent.
When you click the header, a downward-pointing arrow in the column indicates that the information is sorted in descending order. To switch to ascending order, click the column header again. The arrow on the column header now points up
to indicate.
