This article walks through sending a text message from the Communication module.
Access the Communication Module
- From the left navigation menu, select Communication.
- The Messages list opens, showing existing messages and a New Message button.
Start a New Text Message
- From the Messages list, select New Message.
- Choose Text.
- Select Next to continue.
Select Recipients
- Under Who do you want to send it to?, select a recipient type: Family, Member, Member Workgroup, or Family Workgroup.
- In the list that opens, use the search field to find a recipient, or scroll to browse.
- Select the checkbox next to each recipient to add, then select Done.
- Select Next to continue.
Note: If a selected recipient doesn't have a phone number on file, a warning appears letting you know they may not receive the text.
Compose the Text Message
- Under Text Recipient Response, choose whether to request a response: Request recipient message response or No response requested from recipient.
- Enter a Subject.
- Enter your message text in the Message field.
- Select Next to continue.
Note: A character counter under the Message field shows how many text messages your content will use. Select the i icon next to the counter to see the full breakdown: 1-160 characters sent as 1 message, 161-306 as 2 messages, 307-460 as 3 messages, and 461-612 as 4 messages.
Preview and Send the Text Message
- Review the Message Title, Recipients, and message preview for accuracy.
- Select Send to send the message immediately, or select Schedule to send it later.
Confirm the Message Was Sent
After you select Send, a confirmation appears, and you're returned to the Messages list. The new message appears at the top of the list, tagged SMS.
